GOBIKE – explainer VIDEO safety SERIES
OVERVIEW
The GOBike Buffalo organization believes active mobility makes people’s lives better, and their commitment to building a more connected, bike-friendly region not only resonates with its Western New York community, but bicyclists all over the world. We were thrilled to collaborate with Addo Productions to help communicate the GOBike mission by creating a series of relatable and digestible videos that show how the organization is bettering peoples’ lives, and bringing road safety education to the forefront.

OUR STORY’S HERO.
There’s no question that video is a powerful educational medium. In fact, studies have shown that video is capable of improving one’s retention of information quite drastically. According to PopVideo, viewers are 95% more likely to retain a message in video format versus text. And what better way to promote bike safety education than through a series of videos featuring all of our favorite ways to get in and around our communities?
The Addo team did a phenomenal job with the production of this project. Working closely with GOBike, they created an authentic and relatable storyline focused around a hero bicyclist named Sophie. Having a relatable character for the audience to connect with was crucial to the success of the series, therefore, everything in post-production needed to compliment Sophie’s bicycling story. Formerle was tasked with elevating this storyline through video editing and motion graphics.
ENGAGING GRAPHICS SYSTEMS.
We knew these videos were part of an ongoing education series with The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee of New York so striking a visual balance between video and graphics, while also aware of the growing needs of the series, was crucial to Formerle’s post-production success. We knew we wanted to create a system that would allow us to scale quickly, should the Committee decide to do additional videos in the future, but also create a visually pleasing experience that kept the GOBike audience engaged. By creating a cohesive graphics system that mimicked Sohpie’s storyline, we were able to highlight key points, reinforce important road safety rules, and quickly and easily replicate our process across the board, making delivery of each of the requested videos effortless.
It’s been wonderful to see the GOBike and Western NY biking communities engage with this series as each video continues to premiere. We look forward to the organization’s continued success at keeping the Western New York region, and bicyclists everywhere, safe and informed. It was an honor to partner with The New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, GOBike and Addo Productions on this series, and bring awareness to bike safety education. Many thanks to the Addo team for bringing the Formerle onboard. We certainly learned a thing or two about how to share the roads with our bicyclist friends!
